  The 2009 Convention Committee is in the process of finalizing the Plan of the Week
and with that the planned Convention Activities that we will be organizing. We
expect that the planned activities will include:

 
  No-Host Early-Bird Social - For those arriving in San Diego on Monday, come
join us for an adult beverage and help us kick-off the 2009 Convention!

 

 
Golf Tournament

The golf tournament is going to be a "Best Ball Scramble." The tournament will be played at the Riverwalk Golf Club, located right next to the Town & Country Hotel! This course has three great nines: Friars, Mission, and Presidio courses and will be fun time for golfers of all levels. You will need to find your way to the golf course! Specifics:

ISA / USSVI Welcoming Ceremony

The Welcoming ceremony / banquet is open to members of USSVI and ISA. Guest speakers will include Admiral Thomas Fargo (honorary chairman and host for the 46th International Submariners Congress 2009) and will be an opportunity for the USSVI and ISA to kick off our joint-visit to San Diego!

 

 
Holland Club Breakfast

All of you Holland Club members and soon to be installed Holland Club members come to our breakfast on Wednesday! We plan on installing new Holland Club Members and will have a guest speaker (to be determined at a later date).

 

  Men's Luncheon - Enjoy lunch and an adult beverage with your shipmates.
Luncheon is open to all men. Guest speaker to be announced at a later date.

 

  Ladies' Luncheon - A Luncheon for the ladies, guest speaker to be announced
at a later date.

 

 
Dinner Cruise on the Bay

We are planning a sunset dinner cruise on San Diego Bay with San Diego Harbor Excursion. Please come join us!

 

  Ladies' Tea - The scents of fine teas and the sounds of friendly conversation are
wafting through the air, as you are beckoned by a delightful array of delicious tea
sandwiches. Experience the ambiance of a high tea right in the Town & Country
Hotel.

 

  Memorial Service - For now theWe are still trying to firm up the plans for the
memorial service. Convention's memorial service will be held on 11 Sep and will
be something special. We are hoping to hold the service in conjunction with the
dedication of the World War II submarine memorial at Liberty Station (the old San
Diego Naval Training Center). In addition to USSVI veterans we hope to include
the participation of our WW II shipmates and veterans from foreign nations.

 

  Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony - An evening to recognize the efforts of
our shipmates and to enjoy dining and dancing. Guest speaker to be announced.

 

  Farewell Coffee - Before you leave stop in and share coffee and pastries with us!

 

  In addition to the these activities the 2009 Convnetion Committee is also
supporting INDEPENDENT OPS (see the THINGS TO DO link) and will assist with
individual or small groups to try and organize visits to the San Diego Zoo, the
Maritime Museun, the USS Midway Museum, a major league baseball game (the San
Diego Padres vs TBD), a series of tours on the submarine base at Naval Base
Point Loma, if possible, and trips to the local Viejas and / or Barona casinos.
